AI SECURITY · CRYPTO

Image: Chainalysis.
The AI Field: Chainalysis said on Friday that an outside attacker used "offensive agentic techniques", meaning AI agents, to get into its systems and internal tools this month.
The details:
Exposed: user IDs, names, emails and job roles of people with platform accounts. Chainalysis found no sign of access to investigation files, passwords, two-factor secrets or login sessions.
Unknown: how the agents were used, which weak spots were hit, and how many customers are affected.
Not Binance: Chainalysis says this is unrelated to the October 29 Binance theft, which the FBI blames on North Korea.
Why it matters: A leaked name, email and job title is all a scammer needs for a convincing fake message. Last month a hacker hit 100+ companies with AI agents. Now the firms that investigate hackers are targets too. If you use Chainalysis, turn on two-factor login.

Clear a pile of household admin in one afternoon
One person's AI agent checked his car insurance, filed two settlement claims, booked a recall repair and flagged upcoming bills in one afternoon. He sells bot setups, so treat that as his own account. Paste this into an AI agent that can read your email and browse the web:
"Help me with household admin this week. 1) Check open class action settlements I may qualify for, based on products and services in my email, and list each with the deadline and what proof it needs. Don't file a claim I can't back up. 2) Check my car's VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA site. 3) List bills due in the next 14 days. Show me everything before you submit or book."
Check everything before anything is filed or booked. Only claim settlements you can prove: a claim without proof can count as a false statement under penalty of perjury.
NVIDIA · SPACE SCIENCE

The AI Field: Nvidia, the SETI Institute and Breakthrough Listen now let astronomers run the Allen Telescope Array with one plain-language request. AI agents steer and calibrate the antennas, fix data errors and analyze the signals.
The details:
First result: the first real-time AI detection of a pulsar, a spinning dead star, in the Crab Nebula.
Speed: 2.4 terabits of radio data per second, processed on Nvidia chips at the telescope.
Why it matters: Scientists describe what they want and the agents do the technical work, turning weeks or years of effort into hours.

VATICAN · AI RULES

Image: Vatican Media.
The AI Field: Pope Leo XIV told a Vatican AI meeting on Friday that "machines are tools, not persons" and that AI must be "disarmed".
The details:
No AI personhood: he warned against giving AI rights or legal personhood.
Weapons: he urged the countries meeting in Geneva in November to take concrete steps toward banning lethal autonomous weapons.
Why it matters: The Geneva talks on autonomous weapons are only weeks away, and few voices reach as many governments.
